What is a locum doctor?

A locum doctor is someone who is taking care of patients for another physician when they are away from their practice.  Many times this happens during conferences, vacations, maternity, illness or sabbatical leave.

 

How do I find a new doctor?

The physicians at the Wild Rose Medical Centre are currently not accepting new patients, however if you wish to be on our waiting list please phone the clinic to provide your information. 

When physicians open their practices for new patients, or when a new physician joins our clinic waiting list patients will be contacted to come in for a meet and greet appointment.

 

Same Day Appointments are offered.

The Wild Rose Medical Centre provides Same Day appointments Monday through Friday from 8:30 onwards. Afternoon day appointments are able to be booked each morning by phoning the clinic.  We are NOT a WALK IN clinic. 

Phones are answered starting at 07:45.  Appointments are important for medical screening. Phone us first! 

 

How do I transfer my medical records?

If you are new to the Wild Rose Medical Centre and your physician would like your medical records from your previous physician, please come to the clinic and complete a chart request form. There may be a chart transfer fee if the entire chart is requested. This would need to be covered by the patient prior to the Wild Rose Medical Centre receiving the chart.

If you would like your medical records transferred to another physician your new physician will have to make a request to receive this from your current physician at the Wild Rose Medical Centre. Prior to record transfer a chart transfer fee will need to be paid before release of information to your new physician

 

How do I get the results of medical tests or procedures?

Please call the Wild Rose Medical Centre and ask to book an appointment with one of our physicians. They will be happy to provide you with this information.

 

How do I get Alberta Health Care Insurance?

New to the province or perhaps your Health Care needs to be updated and reactivated. Please call the Alberta Rite Line toll free at 403-310-0000, then following the prompted instructions, dial 780-427-1432.

 

How do I renew my prescription medication?

Empty bottle, or near empty? Please phone the Wild Rose Medical Centre and book an appointment to see your family physician, or other physician on Same Day appointments. If you are very close to running out of your medication phone your pharmacist and inquire if they will renew your prescription while you wait to see a physician.

 

Can all the physicians at the clinic see my records?

Yes, all physicians are able to access your medical records at the clinic and at the hospital. This provides optimum continuity of care amongst our medical physician team.

 

Hospital Care coverage?

If you need to be admitted to the hospital your Family Physician from Wild Rose Medical Centre will be able to care for you while you are in the hospital, or a dedicated Hospitalist. If you do not yet have a local Family Physician the physician who admitted you will be able to provide your hospital care, or a dedicated Hospitalist.  A Hospitalist is  a local physician who cares for patients who are admitted to the Acute Care r Long Term Care units at the Olds Hospital and Care Centre.
