Alberta College of Family Physicians Outstanding Family Practice Award
The Wild Rose Medical Centre is very honoured to be formally recognized by the Alberta College of Family Physicians for the most outstanding Family Medicine practice throughout the province of Alberta for the 2018-2019 year.
The award is presented for excellence and leadership in patient and community care while exhibiting the principles of the Patients Medical Home model of care. In the past eight years the Wild Rose Medical Centre has grown from six physicians to 18, has expanded services and support to the Olds Hospital, has expanded service and coverage for the Obstetrics program in Olds, has increased services for senior’s care with on site medical services at each of the three seniors’ homes in Olds, and has regular on site medical service delivery at Olds College for students and staff. With support from the Peaks to Prairies Primary Care Network additional programs including chronic disease management, mental health services, social work, exercise programs and provision for dedicated specialized staff have enabled advanced patient programs like INR management and proactive and opportunistic screening for prevention and identification of medical concerns.
As Dr. Turner indicated in the press, “We really appreciate the support we’ve received from our Primary Care Network, and the resources they have brought”.
The Alberta College of Family Physicians encouraged the Wild Rose Medical Centre to apply for the award to recognize the years of dedicated hard work in medical leadership, and advancement in medical patient care in the community. The award was presented on January 25, 2019.
